Brianne's Final Major Review

Here is my major website i choose, it is www.acupuncturecenter.com i really like this site it is really helpful for those trying to find alternative ways for infetility.

I like this site because there are so many links you can go to and basically any question you have to ask there is a answer. This linkhttp://www.acupuncturecenter.com/reasons.htm is really nice because it gives you an idea about what type of enviornment this place is and what type of people you will be seeing, its reassuring and makes you a little more comfortable. They also have mission statement linkhttp://www.acupuncturecenter.com/mission.htm that again makes you feel comfortable they let you know what they have to offer from nutritionist to reproductive endocinologists. By doctor Mike Berkley

When having a site like this i think you really need success stories to help you make the choice of choosing there care and this is a linkhttp://www.acupuncturecenter.com/recommendations.html gives you plenty of heartfelt stories, and gives you hope that you might be one of these people sending in a story.

I also like how they have linkshttp://www.acupuncturecenter.com/chinese_medicine.html thta inform you on alternative medicine for those who dont really know what it is all about. This link talks about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) how it works compared to allopathic meds. IT discusses how they treat you as a whole rather than just a disease and it goes into the "four examinations" which are observing, listening and smelling as one and questioning and palpating. they explain what all that is about

Kelly's Final Major Review

This is a final major review writen by Kelly. I wanted to focus on massage for pregnancy and had some trouble finding one major site. Therefore I reviewed a few sites that I felt were good minor sites. I chose these sites because they were each very informative and tied in well with our physiology class.
The first site I reviewed was http://www.bodydayspa.com/pregnancy_massage.htm by Deborah Simmers-Shahadey. She is a Nationaly certified massage therapist and is also certified in pregnancy massage. You can learn more about her and the other therapist by linking to http://www.bodydayspa.com/about%20the%20therapist.htm
I chose this particular site because I felt it was one of the most informative sites I found. It clearly explains all the benefits of massage during pregnancy and also massage in general.
By linking to http://www.bodydayspa.com/benefits%20of%20massage.htm it clearly breaks down and explains all aspects of massage. You can learn about the benefits of massage for the muscular system, circulatory system, nervous system, lymphatic system, integumentary system, skeletal system, and immune system. Also it explains the benefits of massage for athletes and Chiropractic. Finally, it explains the benefits of emotional and mental levels during massage.
Another great link is http://www.bodydayspa.com/infant_massage.htm The is a great addition to the site because now you can look at the benefits of massage for the baby also. I thought this link was perfict to add because it had some great information.
http://www.bodydayspa.com/anatomy.htm is a very important link. It is full of anatomy pictures that you can look at. These are ranging from muscular and skeletal pictures to the heart and digestive system. This is a very informative link and ties in nicely with class. You can also link to http://www.bodydatspa.com/muscles.htm and here you can look at individual muscles and techniques for massage.
Overall this is a good site with so much information. I liked the information on massage and also the added information on anatomy.
The other site I reviewed was http://www.massage-by-the-journey.com/pregnancy_massage.htm I chose this site because it answered all the important questions one would ask about massage during pregnancy. It begins by telling you what pregnancy massage is and when it is good to begin massage. I liked that it explains the physical, psychological, and emotional benefits of massage during pregnancy. I felt this information tied in well with our physiology class and what we have studied. It also explains the importance of massage after delivery as well. Although this is a small site I liked the content and felt it was very informative.

Alternatives For Labor Mellissa Oliveira Final Minor

This is my minor review. The website I choose is www.thegoodbirth.co.uk/waterbirth.php , this website was established by a mother who is anetenatal teacher for the Natioanal Childbirth Trust. She enjoyed the benefits and experience of using waterbirth for her two sons so much she wanted other womento be able to afford this option as well. She not only established this website to be affordable but educational for women seeking waterbirth .What makes this website so interesting is it indeed advertizes what you may need for a waterbirth, but it also explains how will benefit you during your labor, such as progress the labor and relieve pressure during contractions. Another interesting aspect of this website is it offers testimonials of people who have experienced waterbirth and have used the product that they purchased from this website. This allows feedback for those who are seeking waterbirth as an alternative labor option.

Alternatives to Labor Mellissa Oliveira Final Draft

The website I have Chosen is http://www.birthbalance.com/home.asp this website is a wonderful website dealing mainly with waterbith and the different aspectsand questions that people are looking to find out about this alternative.

One of the features are the risks and benifits of waterbirth http://www.birthbalance.com/benefits.shtml . waterbirth is a great alternative to drugs during labor. There are many benefits some of them are , making the transaction from the womb to the world less traumatic for the baby since water is similair to the enviroment that the baby is used to and is also much safer than an epidural. Waterlabor is quiet effective becauce it naturally blocks nerve impulses of pain to the brain , known as agate theory to pain. Waterbirth also reduces episiotimies and painful stiches ,because water relaxes the pelvic floor muscles . Waterbirth also excellerates normal labor resulting in less than two to four hours of birth total . On the other hand some of the risks for waterbirth may be HIV and Hepetites , even though the chances to slim they may be a concern to whoever is assisting the birth. Others may be those with certain medical conditions, multiples, premature labor, severe meconium and shoulder dystoid.

Secondly birthbalance ansers some questions that women might have http://www.birthbalance.com/faqs.shtml . Women may have many questions when it comes to alternative labor option especially if there are not going to be in a hospoital setting were there is immediat help in case of an emergency. These questions and anseres will help women decide if waterbirth is a good option for them . Some of these questions explain the most common questions asked. Such as the most comon reason women want to labor or give birth in water, the difference between emmersion which is labor in water and deliver out of the water to waterbirth were both are done in water. It also ansers questions such as when a women should get into the tub , the apropriet temperture of the water and how the baby will breath if its born in the water as well as many other helpful question and ansers.

Last but not least birth balance offers insperational and educational birth stories http://www.birthbalance.com/stories/?cat=0 . These stories are interesting because they reassure mothers the incredible choice they are making to birth at home as an alternative to the hospital , with the help of midwives,Doulas and water. There many stories to pick from and they are all incredible , they are pretty discriptive and educational. For an interesting story click on Balas Birth by: Melinda , this is an incredible story of a women and her husband who delivered there own baby when the midwive did not make it on time , this is a definatly a must read. These stories give a personal view of real life experiences women have had, which may help a women decide whether this alternative is the right choice for them.
